Title: J-Culture Decoded ( as a hypothesis )

Masaki Fujihata is one of the pioneers of Japanese new media art, beginning his career working in video and digital imaging in the early 80s. He started his career as a digital artist for computer graphics and animations in the early 80s. In the late 80s, he produced computer generated sculptures and, in the early 90s, he entered the field of interactive arts. His networked art piece “Global Interior Project” received a Golden Nika at Ars Electronica in 1996. His interactive book, “Beyond Pages”, travelled around the U.S. and Europe and was finally installed in the permanent collection of ZKM in 1997. Masaki Fujihata is Professor for New Media at the Tokyo National University of Arts.
